A 10km race is the sweet spot of competitive running: long enough to require strategy, short enough to go all out. Your shoe should be light and responsive enough to handle race pace without weighing you down over 10km.
Race day shoes for 10K
Carbon plate shoes are arguably more impactful over 10km than any other distance. You are running at a higher intensity than a marathon, which means your body can actually take advantage of the energy return mechanics more efficiently.
The Nike Vaporfly 4 is a strong choice. At 10km pace it feels lively and propulsive. Its relatively low weight also matters more at this distance than in a marathon where fatigue is the bigger factor.

Training shoes for 10K runners
Training for a 10km involves a mix of easy runs, tempo efforts, and speed sessions. You don't need carbon for all of this. A good daily trainer handles 80 percent of your mileage while keeping your legs fresh for quality sessions.

Whatever shoe you use, make sure it's well broken in. Race day is not the time to debut brand new footwear.
